Yes Woman!

Jim Carrey has done it again. His latest movie sees him as a man of many 'yeses'. The type of people that us Christians ought to be more often. I know for one that I often say 'no' more than 'yes'.

So here is the big idea: I am going to spend one week beginning Feb 9th saying Yes instead of the usual No :) That is of course allowing room for reasonable good judgement exercise! C'mon, if a random asks for my house key I will surely say No without any hesitation!

And... I will not tell my brother who will definately abuse the system.

SO, a yes woman for the next week... How scary but exciting!

Bible in a year...

This year
, my New Year's resolution is to have a new relationship with sin AND HENCE a new relationship with God. To have a new relationship with God, I needed to learn more about who God is and know of his forever unchanging attributes. To accomplish this, there was no better place to start than the very own Word of God - the Bible.

This year, my New Year's resolution includes reading the entire Bible by December 31st.

To be honest, I have tried doing Bible-in-a-year many times before but always failed miserably. I would delightfully keep up with the program for a few months before having a busy week and fall behind a couple of chapters. In the end I would become so demotivated that giving up eventuated.

Julia never got to read the entire Bible.

So what makes this year possibly the year of change?

I am not sure but I know my head thinks differently. I genuinely desire to be better familiarized with the Bible. I want to know what the Word of God instructs and I hunger for wisdom. No, make that I need to know what the Word of God instructs. It's a necessity, it's my priority. I don't know if I can say with great cerntainty that this time I will not give up because I don't trust myself. Yet evey moment thus far spent meditating on God's Words, the Holy Spirit never failed excite my soul. Slowly I can feel that God is increasing my appetite and reading capacity, reading is slowly becoming easier and easier which was one of the difficulty that I experienced previously.

14 days into the month of January with plenty of God's grace, the book of Genesis is finished.

What amazing grace!

my Evidence Bible and reading specs

Reading kit: a yellow crayon highlighter,
a pencil and blue pen for note taking,
a red pen to mark the days and chapters
plus a notebook for scribbles.
Jan 4th was done sitting on my bed - therefore the terrible 3yo hand writing :P

Life Applications Bible - where my notes are stored. Oops I can't spell "Iseral"!

more notes.
Genesis Chapters:
  • Creation (chapter 1, 2)
  • The fall of man (chapter 3 - 5)
  • The Great Flood (chapter 6 - 9)
  • The Tower of Babel (chapter 10 - 11)
  • Abraham (chapter 12 - 25)
  • Issac (chapter 25 - 26)
  • Jacob (chapter 27 - 36)
  • Joseph (chapter 37 - 50)
Now I am on chapter 13 of Exodus. God has just delivered the children of Israel from the hands of Pharaoh and very soon Israel will be in the wilderness.

I found this website online which tells of the stories in the Bible using little Leggo men! It's quite interesting and truly facinating :)

Blue Manna Anyone?

Last Saturday we went Mandurah crabbing :) We met up at 11am but ended up crabbing at around 3:30pm...! It was a long story but the day was very memorable.

Pink Cheek boy unloading his vehicle

Vy looking displeased because her dad took the Mazda

this is my mum... looking very happy indeed

Stvo and Harry

Stvo's hat on Harry's head

where we spent a lot of time at... it was a tackle shop in Myaree

i caught the first male blue swimmer! the one that nipped Stvo and made him bleed...

2 skippies

Vy caught a lot of big crabs that day!

me and a 24cm skippy - just undersize :( had to release it...

crabs!

we saw dolphins!

see the great long line of crab nets?

this little one didn't like itself very much...

Vy pulling up the net...

many scoopers along the shore

preparing dinner

the Sun's secret crab dipping sauce!!

this big fat arm belongs to my dad

mmm... fresh, live crabs!

dinner is served!!!

These big, fat, juicy crabs were worth every effort of driving down to Mandurah! Just snapping the legs make the shells separate from the meat. Hot, steaming crab meat dipped in my dad's secret recipe sauce was unforgettable!!

Driving back we could hear the crabs rattling in the bucket, I couldn't help but crack up everytime it happens!

Mandurah crabbing, thumbs up. Crab dinner feast, double thumbs up!

I can't wait to go again!!

The New Year has come

2009!

How weird does that sound? Two thousand and nine...

However... my anticipation is greatly excited this year :)

Before the year began, I purchased a pocket diary from a well known general store called The Reject Shop. In the weeks leading up to Jan 1 2009 I looked forward to writing in my new diary very much.

On Christmas, Ruth encouraged me with a daily planner. Unlike the $2 version that I acquired, this pink one is one page per day, 6am - 8pm. It also has a little box at the bottom right hand corner for prayer list as well as a printed Bible verse for meditation.

On the 29th, Vy gave me an Oroton agenda... Somehow, I felt that God wanted me to learn better time management this year.

Hmm... what's a person to do with THREE diaries...? Which one am I to use? After much struggle, I've decided to adopt the pink daily planner. It may not be light like the pocket diary or poshy like the Oroton agenda, nevertheless I'm sure it's the right decision to make.
