As promised, I made a trip to the Doctor's today to see a new doc Dr Soe. As she practices in the second building, the wait wasn't terribly long which was good for patients. There are a couple types of "waits" that I like to avoid but seem to always end up in:
1. When I'm starving waiting for the food to come
2. When I'm power shopping during lunch breaks and the queue to the counter is out the door
3. When I'm sick while everyone else in the surrounding neighborhoods are too (seeing the same doc too)
4. Driving behind L platers/cargo trucks/buses/frequent stopping vehicles while running late
5. When I'm busting and each woman takes an average of 5-10minutes per public toilet cubicle
6. Call waiting
7. Internet lagging
Notice the "while" or "when" remarks? It appears that the shorter the time there is available (no one else to blame by self), the stronger the urge to rush. #6 and #7 of course are exclusions to the above rule of thumb. I mean, no one seriously enjoy dial-up speed internet or being on hold to Service Providers for 20minutes.
As long as there is time to spare, I'm pretty good at keeping myself entertained. Some of the things I suggest you could do are:
1. Sing a song (voicelessly in you head. Do not disturb others as much as you can help it. Just because they are stuck in a queue with you does not mean opportunity for you to hold a mini concert. One piece of advise to headphone/earphone people who like to humm along to tunes. You might not be able to hear yourself, we CAN. We hear you loud and clear without lyrics nor melodies and we have NO idea what you are humming).
2. Try and remember what your family member/friends/colleagues said the other day that was really funny. Remember it in as much details as possible and have a good laugh all over again. Twice if it's that funny.
3. Observe. Look around you and pretend you are the director of the next it-Hollywood movie. Put imaginations to work, attach a blurb to every action you see.
4. Feel sorry for bored and very tired looking husbands/boyfriends in Valleygirl/Temp. Instant feel-better move :D
5. Focus on the future positives. Just think once you get your hot, steaming laksa, which piece of fishball should you attack first? the left or the right?
6. Last but not least when all else fails, turn to you right 180 degrees and count how many more people behind you and study how they'd like to be in your current position. This one is a personal favorite :P
Well, the fact is I do feel much better today, the Doc gave grant to a 2 day medical certificate and I had Sunday Everyday for lunch.
Thank God for allowing a speedy recovery, I'll make sure to wear jackets more often from now on.
