February Murmur

Hello February
Hello New Year
Hello little ones

Goodbye lies
Goodbye 2012
Goodbye you

Been thinking about: Pretentiousness.

Seeing with my own eyes,
Hearing from others their disappointment too,
Somebody's words and actions mismatch,
Underneath your smile something fades.

I had so many questions within,
Until the LORD said, Doest thou well to be angry? (Jonah 4:4)
Your departure says there's no need,
I still thank God for the times we shared.

I'll pray for you with true sincerity & love,
That the Lord Almighty directs your path;
I'll pray for me with deep humility & shame,
That the root of bitterness defiles not man.

October Murmur

A rainy day today.. weather-wise AND emotion-wise.

Though I greatly adore damp-air, courtesy of the tropical environment I grew up in, I pray that my soul may not turn mouldy from the 'spiritual dampness' (ie impatience) that's been trying to creep into my heart.

Below is a small portion from my mornng devotion that helped to direct my impatient heart back to God:

The Bible records God’s “delays”, many of which seem at the time to be inexplicable from our point of view. Yet every delay flows from the depths of His wisdom and love. If nothing else, delay, if we accept it, can produce the quieter virtues - humility, patience, endurance, and persistence - qualities that are often the last to be learned.

"Every delay flows from the depths of his wisdom and love." What great encouragement for those waiting on the Lord! God is never in a hurry, but He is always on time, wise words I once heard from somebody. Indeed, God's wisdom is infinite, God's mercy is inexaustable. Thank God I am waiting on the Almighty God Who knows me (and my desires!) personally. There is no need to fret, heart, God is near.

I KNOW WHO HOLDS TOMORROW
By Ira F. Stanphill

 I don’t know about tomorrow, I just live from day to day;
I don’t borrow from its sunshine, For its skies may turn to gray.
I don’t worry over the future, For I know what Jesus said;
And today I’ll walk beside Him, For He knows what is a head.

Every step is getting brighter As the golden stairs I climb;
Every burden’s getting lighter, Every cloud is silver lined.
There the sun is always shining, There no tear will dim the eye,
At the ending of the rainbow. Where the mountains touch the sky,

I don’t know about tomorrow, It may bring me poverty;
But the one who feeds the sparrow Is the one who stands by me.
And the path that is my portion May be through the flame or flood;
But His presence goes before me And I’m covered with His blood.

Many things about tomorrow
I don’t seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.

PS. Finished reading the book of 1 Corinthians last night (finally) *wipe sweat*. It took a little while this time.. Hehe.. Thank God for His rich grace sustaining me through the Bible reading thus far, especially on nights when I don't feel very motivated to do quiet time.

PPS. Wednesday is catching up again.. and no clue as yet on which verse I'll share. Maybe a verse on waiting? Mmmm..

17 May 2012

Having a bad day? I was!

My carpool buddy, Miss K, was feeling tired and exhausted this morning from a lack of asleep. I on the other hand was feeling deflated about work and other issues. Hehe. Imagine being in the same car with two moody ladies!

As we shared with one another our cross, Miss K was reminded of something which refreshed our noisy souls. She'd heard from a female speaker that if we were to ever feel moody and forecast a bad day ahead, stop and think that God was the planner of that day (and all that will happen)!

So a practical lesson here for me: bring the day under His Lordship (Jim Berg) and have a good time :)

"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24

Every day is worth rejoicing over because it is a day that God has made ^^

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you and expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive" Jeremiah 29:11-14

December Murmur

Happy December people!

Secret Squirrel has a ripe acorn to reveal:

I have a small winter supply of Coles Group & Myer Gift Cards collected over the past few months!

My workplace has a few rewards programs for keeping staff morale high. My favourite incentive is this, the Coles Group & Myer Gift Cards. I actually didn't intend on saving the gift cards for any special purchase, it's just that I had nothing to buy. Each time the cards came, I threw them into the drawer and then forget that they're actually spending cash.

Tonight I spread the cards out and got a little overwhelmed. Thank God for the almost-forgotten-bonus! It would have been a pity if the cards expired without being used... I'm so ignorantly blur sometimes : (

Now seeing as the money has to be spent, there are a few things that I wouldn't mind having hehe (mainly for the house).
  1. Dyson/Robotic vacuum cleaner
  2. iPad 3
  3. Pro massage chair
I also have credit on another rewards program which must be redeemed by Feb 2012 the latest. Seeing as it's already December, I had a quick browse tonight as well through the website to come up with the following 'possibilities'.

This sounds sad but I'm really indecisive about what to buy... In all honesty it's much more enjoyable being being a working squirrel, the 'collecting' is a lot less complex than the 'spending'.

How do you think I should spend the money?

November Murmur

So here it goes, done with November and it seems days are getting better by the grace of God. I praise God for all the wonderful things He has showered upon me. He continues to weave the good and the bad to achieve His purpose and bring about good in my life.

This morning I enjoyed a free breakfast courtesy of the Commonwealth Bank and Gloria Jeans. I had a large flat white and it turned out to be one of the better coffees I ever had. Admittedly I am a rookie when it comes to coffee but I know what I like: a hint of bitterness yet creamy and smooth to the pallet with lasting fragrance of coffee beans lingering in the nasal canal even after swallowing. Mmm.. Deliciously awakening.

Enjoyed the rest back in the office. Savouring every drop :)

Karen, Rowas and I finally redeemed our Cudo vouchers and signed up for the gym. I had a ball exercising with you girls! All the laughing was good work out for my tummy :)

Last day of Movember!

Rejoice Always

Rejoice in the Lord

God never moves without purpose or plan
When trying His servant and molding a man.
Give thanks to the LORD though your testing seems long;
In darkness He giveth a song.

Chorus: O Rejoice in the LORD
He makes no mistake,
He knoweth the end of each path that I take,
For when I am tried
And purified,
I shall come forth as gold.

I could not see through the shadows ahead;
So I looked at the cross of my Savior instead.
I bowed to the will of the Master that day;
Then peace came and tears fled away.

Now I can see testing comes from above;
God strengthens His children and purges in love.
My Father knows best, and I trust in His care;
Through purging more fruit I will bear.

...

Last Saturday,
God sent this song when I was driving home alone
And a good tear session followed.

Indeed,
God never moves without purpose or plan
Give thanks to the LORD though my testing seems long.

My Father knows best.

*Phew*

Looking back at the calendar for August I was surprised to realise that I had just two free nights alone out of the entire month. Being so busy with meaningful projects, both for church and for work, made every sacrifice worthwhile. I don't think that I have complained at all this month about the lack of personal time! Usually I am very much the creature of 'personal-space-now-leave-me-alone', so to have done well being constantly surrounded by people I am extremely pleased. My friends, you guys are a special bunch. MY special bunch haha!

Anyhoo, the month of August definitely flew by much quicker than I was prepared for. One thing I learnt out of this experience was to treasure my free time and use them more wisely. Quite often I like to procrastinate before committing down to something which can waste a lot of time and make my brain lazy. I believe that God allowed me to be this short for time so He could help me learn the lesson of time consciousness. Any wastage would be silly - and sleep deprivation later down the track! I am still learning in this area, but, definitely gained a greater time appreciation that every hour is precious. Through His enablement I am still up to date with the Daily Bible Reading and even had time to make advancement of the book that I love reading, Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret. My biggest tip is AUDIO BIBLE!! It is very handy when driving and eating breakfast both at the same time *smiley face*.

I am sadly disappointed about one thing though, a rejected offer on a house that I really liked. Oh well, more on this later maybe, if enough people are interested to hear the story.

Thank God for a fruitful month of fellowship with Him and brethren in Christ. The privilege of serving God through helping others was humbling and deeply satisfying.

So far September has been pretty cruisy which I am truly thankful for. A good time to rest up and enjoy a more intimate time with God.

March Murmur

::PS::::

Harry

Thank God!

What's brain storming now + a thought

2:50 AM

Decor brain storming in progress.

This is my first time shopping for Christmas! Walking through the shops these past few days I noticed obvious festive cheer in the air. Shops after shops flog Christmas good; bright lights blinker everywhere.

I love Christmas. But it seems that society sees Christmas as a shopping holiday... The idea of Christmas being religious is a distant memory. In a recent survey, less than three-quarters of children knew Christmas was to celebrate the birth of Jesus, with 11 per cent believing it was the birthday of Father Christmas.

Christmas isn't about plastic santas and lights and presents. Many children are encouraged to write a list of the presents they want for Christmas. As the years go by we become greedy adults. Christmas for many people is money-making time!

Are people forgetting the true meaning, that is the birth of Jesus Christ, of Christmas?

在 我 敵 人 面 前 , 你 為 我 擺 設 筵 席 ;
我 一 生 一 世 必 有 恩 惠 慈 愛 隨 著 我 ;

Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

August Murmur #2

in a happy place

Philippians

Last week of June

Little Elmo for morning tea -  part of the gift to say 'thank-you' from a generous member to the staff. Serving others desires no return but moments like this makes you think that all the hard work's not done in vain.

Tracy's custard horns - yummy little things, she's indeed a very talented baker :)

This photo reminds me of the soundtrack from Toy Story 3 - You've got a friend in me. Friend, in me, in the phone, get it? :P I've just finished watching Toy Story 3 and it made me cry. I didn't think I'd be intrigued at all but the story was very touching *sob sob* And I think my personality of being very 'jian yi qi' the movie just makes sense~!

Last Tuesday I had to go to the hospital for assessments and clinical appointments. What you see was my free hospital lunch. It was the most emotional day for me this year. By the way parking near Fremantle Hospital is just SHOCKING!! I paid $14.20 and the machines only take coins so I had to run around asking people to break a $50 note in between clinics. Shie Tian... When I become the next PM first thing I'll do is to make all parking around hospitals free!! The parking really stressed me out, first being limited 2/3hour bays and second it's ridiculously expensive - $2 per half and hour.

At the end of a stressful morning I left home with one surgery information pamphlet, one Chlorhexidine Pre-Op antiseptic wash for pre-operative use, but no set date for surgery.

Kind strangers, brothers and sisters, please 'wei wo dao gao' - pray for me

Good health is God's blessing which we should never take for granted
