Go to the ant

RC's fallen bacon from her bacon and cheese burger.

Ants gathered quickly to bring food home for the winter.

Watching these small yet mighty creatures at work reminded me of a passage in the Bible. There "Solomon liking himself to the sluggard who loves his ease, lives in idleness, minds no business, sticks to nothing, brings nothing to pass, and in a particular manner is careless in the business of religion. Slothfulness is as sure a way to poverty, though not so short a way, as rash suretiship" (Henry)

"Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man."

Proverbs 6:6-11

Tiny and very inconspicuous ants work ever so quietly and unweariedly to build their extensive community underground. When I was very young I tried sabotaging their colony by pouring hot water down the entrance hole but to no avail. Their population of millions grew from strength to strength. Every ant is born with a purpose, and every ant lives up to that purpose until the day it dies.

I have much to emulate from the ways of these working ants!

Time to sleep now, to recharge for the task tomorrow.

It must be done!
