Vy turned 22 last week - during exam times. So her birthday dinner was delayed till last night. This time we headed to Yu Chinese Restaurant in Burswood because of Peking Duck. Plus Vy's aunty and uncle were full of praises for the place when they went 3 weeks ago.
I have to say, the place looks amazing. Definately different to how I remembered it from last time. We sat down and began ordering dinner as both of us were starving!
Looking at the menu... their dishes appear ordinary yet expensive. Sang Chow Bao is $11.50 for one lettuce wrap and 4 little dim sums in a basket cost $13.50. Remembering my last Yu experience, I'm lowering my expectations to avoid disappointment.
While waiting for our dinner, Vy received her present. She thought it was a teddy bear inside... WRONG!
It was really Pandora.
A gold & silver queen bee + silver 'heo'. Her favourite nickname for everybody.
After pre dinner soup, sang chow bao arrives and it was sooooYUMMM! I wanted second and third and fourth and fifth and sixth!
Dim sum basket. This was alright because there were scallops & prawns in side.
The trolley comes because Peking duck is next.
Still hungry. Tempted to order another sang chow bao.
Warming up the sauce and pancake for Peking duck.
Not as good as my daddy's... but yummy nonetheless!
Deep fried toothfish, Shechuan steak and prawn fried rice. I liked all especially the toothfish!
Half way through dinner we sat outside for a mini break. We were both getting very full and struggling to finish the rest of the food.
Dessert: mango pudding.
You can tell I really like mango pudding!
After dinner coffee - this was terrible. Order Chinese tea in a Chinese restaurant and save coffees for proper cafes! I'll have to say, dinner was great! We will definitely be back next time :)
