Naughty Capital "Cram"

If Super Nanny was here, she'd be disappointed with me.

Seven hours to go before the AIS exam, I am cramming.

*sigh*

...

*yawn*

...

I'll just quietly drift over to the Naughty Corner for more cramming...

*sob sob*.

Grant Me, Dear Lord

Three hours before TSM final exam, Julia's playing this song. Touching my heart as much as it did the first time singing it at the 2006 NYC (if not more)... reminding me that all things come from God and that not of my own strength - but by the amazing grace of God.

GRANT ME, DEAR LORD

Grant me, dear Lord, a soul on fire for Thee;
A soul baptised with heav'nly energy
A willing mind, a ready hand to do whate'er I know,
To spread Thy light wherever I may go.

Grant me, dear Lord, a love that feels for all;
A deep strong love that answers every call.
A love like Thine, a love divine, a love for high and low;
On me dear Lord, a love like this bestow.

Dear Lord, I pray, please work in me to will,
And to have the heart to do Thy pleasure still.
Though there be many tears and temptations that come my way -
Grant me the joy to live for Thee each day.

Grant me, dear Lord, a faith that looks to Thee;
To cheer the way when naught but clouds I see.
A faith sublime, a faith divine, a faith that will not fail,
To trust in Thee and over sin prevail.

Grand me, dear Lord, a faith divine, a faith that will not fail -
To trust in Thee and over sin prevail.

To trust in Him, and over sin prevail.

Finding LOVE with God in my eyes.

Being a student is a blessing from God which can often be taken for granted.

Yes... that's my TSM textbook and a pair of specs which has fulfilled its loyal service.

Iron Chef in the making

Monday night quickly came around again and it was my turn to fix dinner.

Hence the raw vegies pic!

Here's a pic of vegies being washed, it's a no brainer :) I called it my cheat vegies because there was no stirfrying. I simply boiled it and drizzled a little oyster sauce on top due to time constraints.

Omelette: egges, spring onion, salt, msg.

The end product :)

Truc: "oh the omelette is nice, it's a little sweet too, what did you put in it?"
Me: "eggs, spring onoins, salt and... and.... MSG."
Leah: "Ahaha I knew it, no wonder it's sweet!"

Leah the eligible saw right through my sugar coated MSG wall.

Scoop rice, place vegies & omelette on top - Easy Peasy Japanesy!

I didn't do the deep frying. It appears that more stirfrying points needed to be accumulated before the deep frying level is unlocked to me :) Thanks mummy dearest for the help, she did the chicken chopping too, see the perfectly even chicken pieces? Hehe.

After sprinkling a little salt & pepper,
6 little dinner boxes are packed ready to go!

Dinner took about 30 minutes to make, from start to finish. During dinner making mum and I were chatting and laughing which only slowed our hands more.

It was worth every effort when everyone said they enjoy the dinner, even little Truc finished the entire bowl. Not kidding, I scooped so much rice in there!

This makes me excited about what I'll bring next time! I have one month to brainstorm :)

Mr Burns' prodigy... "Exxcelllleennt!"

No, it's not cute.

Having long (overgrown) fringe is easily one of the most bothersome thing for me. Finding a patient hairdresser who won't butcher your hair is a close second.

Lately I've been going to a hairdresser in Northbridge for haircuts. The last 2 times have been pleasant. This hairdresser called Julie was exceptionally good and listened patiently to how I'd like my hair to be. She would also stop from time to time to ask if I was happy thus far.

So when I needed another haircut, I rang up and booked an appointment with her - even though the price had crept up since my last visit in May same year.

FUNNY THOUGH, to my great disappointment, I arrived to be told that Julie was not working that day - and I was still booked in the first place...?

In good faith I accepted another gentleman to be my hairdresser. The girl who washed my hair asked how I'd like the hair to be cut before conversing in another language to the hairdresser who spoke not a single word to me and began cutting.

Yup, not even a basic, simple "hi".

I started to feel uneasy but maintained my cool. 15 minutes later I looked up from my magazine, in confusion I stopped what he was doing. I explained that what he was doing isn't what I wanted. Then I think he got upset.

Cutting the story short, in the end he tried fixing my hair but was too late. It was easy to tell that he just wanted trouble out the door. But I don't think I gave them a hard time... I spoke quite softly and patiently so imagine not getting any word of apology from anyone. In fact they (hairdresser, woman at counter and girl who washed hair) made me feel like it was my fault for not explaining "properly". Well, I said the same thing to Julie last time and she understood quite well.

I asked for a side fringe, I got a straight fringe, sadly the layers on the left is not even with the right neither are the length.

Towards the end of the haircut I heard him saying in foreign language (but i understood) "thankfully it's okay" - just becused I didn't complain does not mean you did the right thing eh.

Remembering that I have to be forgiving, I paid the full price, smiled and left. Coming home examining my hair and it was not happy Jane.

I don't think I will go back there again, ever.

For me the lack of communication in English was a huge problem and the pride was perhaps a little too great. I thought it was most unethical of him to not fix my hair properly, makes me wonder if he did it on purpose.

In the past I've always been recommending EVERY one of my friends, collegues and family the service of the hairdresser and they have indeed been visiting. That will surely be a thing of the past from now on. I don't think I hate them and I am certainly not saying that people should stop going. I am just sharing an experience which happened to me. I understand no one is perfect, it was just unfortunate that I had a bad experience PLUS bad atmosphere AND the lack of ethic (in my personal opinion) pushed me over the line of second chance.

One more place to try or it's back to Toni&Guy for me.

I do remember mummy saying that it was "cute". But that's not the point. It's not what I wanted ... Plus, she's my mum, naive haircut or not, she loves me unconditionally.

This haircut makes me feel 19.

Fringe or no fRinge, that's an obvious question.

Murphy's new laws

Saw this entry online today, quite interesting. How many can u relate to? Enjoy :)

1. Law of Mechanical Repair - After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch and you'll have to pee.
(I don't repair nothing but have seen a person aka daddy suffer plenty of times!)

2. Law of Gravity - Any tool, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible corner.
(Tools? Surely you mean also pens, coins, water bottles, remote controls, vouchers... anything and EVERYTHING really.)

3. Law of Probability -The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.
(What can I say? It's true.)

4 . Law of Random Numbers - If you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal and someone always answers.
(Hello? Jane? Is that you? C'mon lah don't play one.)

5. Law of the Alibi - If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tyre, the very next morning you will have a flat tyre.
(9th Commandment: Thou Shalt NOT Lie. Nuff said.)

6. Variation Law - If you change lines (or traffic lanes), the one you were in will always move faster than the one you are in now (works every time).
(WORKS EVERY TIME!)

7. Law of the Bath - When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.
(Or mobile rings for those living in the modern age.)

8. Law of Close Encounters -The probability of meeting someone you know increases dramatically when you are with someone you don't want to be seen with.
(Or when you are wearing last week's clothes today.)

9. Law of the Result - When you try to prove to someone that a machine won't work, it will.
(Try proving that a machine works, it works - still.)

10. Law of Biomechanics - The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.
(TRUE!)

11. Law of the Theatre - At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle arrive last.
(Law of the Movies - Backseat bogans throw popcorns at you.)

12. The Starbucks Law - As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.
(Apparently Starbucks is too good for Perth.)

13. Murphy's Law of Lockers - If there are only two people in a locker room, they will have adjacent lockers.
(Funny that!)

14. Law of Physical Surfaces - The chances of an open-faced jam sandwich landing face down on a floor covering are directly correlated to the newness and cost of the carpet/rug.
(I spilled BBT to our new carpet once, my bad.)

15. Law of Logical Argument - Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.
(And look stupid - Scroll to Law of Probability [3].)

16. Brown's Law of Physical Appearance - If the clothes fit, they're ugly.
(Or expensive.)

17. Oliver's Law of Public Speaking - A closed mouth gathers no feet.
(BYO feet if you are desperate.)

18. Wilson's Law of Commercial Marketing Strategy - As soon as you find a product that you really like, they will stop making it.
(Or Sold Out.)

19. Doctors' Law - If you don't feel well, make an appointment to go to the doctor, by the time you get there you'll feel better. Don't make an appointment and you'll stay sick.
(Go see Doc ASAP.)

Red Bull Air Race 2008

Red Bull Air Race has been in Perth for a while now and as this world championship takes place in my own backyard, I hibernated.

Well, not this year.

Early Saturday morning Rowas and I took the train and ferry to check out what this competition of speed, precision and skill is all about. In true RJ style, we woke up fashionably late and missed the bus.

Noice.

After much waiting and traveling, we finally arrived at South Perth foreshore, found ourselves a clean spot on the sandy patch ready to be amazed by extraordinary pilots.

If you have never been to the race, I strongly recommend it. The day was entertaining, relaxing, fun and just sitting there made me appreciate Perth a whole lot more. I often take for granted the little things Perth has to offer just because it isn't as "busy" as other major cities.

One advise tho, SUNSCREEN!!!! At the end of the day I had a thick layer of sunscreen that required serious scrubbing before coming off!

On the ferry :)

Some B-ball Action!

See that towering above? It's been what I've been conquering of late.

Or trying to conquer of late...

It all started few days ago when a few of us girls met up for a friendly game. As it turned out, we huffed and puffed our way through 2 hours of physical strain. We were neither fit nor skilled so it's only natural that I now have a change of heart to play at least half decent.

So the intense training led by my brother began. For the last few days we've been practicing, rain or shine.

Tomorrow will be another women's bball game, we shall see how much I've learnt :)
